Today, Emily and I went to the Scooper Bowl. The Scooper Bowl (for people who didn’t want to click the link) is an annual event where they raise money for the Jimmy Fund Foundation by letting people eat a massive amount of ice cream for only eight dollars. To be brutally honest, I like ice cream. If there’s an opportunity to eat ice cream AND help contribute money to cancer research, then I’m more than willing to help out.
The event is geared heavily toward the younger crowd, with Disney blasting music by the Hannah Montanas and Justin Biebers while small children dance and older people cringe. For the most part, there were just ice cream vendors, though there was some soap company there as well. All the major players were there, from Breyers to Baskin Robbins to HP Hood.
I’m a terrible reporter. I kept no notes so I don’t really have any information about the ice cream flavors I ate. I remember something called golden oreo and a couple of smores ice creams. I just wandered around sampling flavors until I felt like I was going to throw up and then that was a good sign that I should stop. In spite of the massive amounts of children and the heat, I enjoyed myself. I haven’t had that much ice cream in a long while and, for the first time ever, I was able to claim that by eating ice cream I was helping to save lives.
In a roundabout way.
I like ice cream.
